Job Description:
This role is based in Port Augusta on a major building project. As a Regional WHSEQ Advisor, you will report directly to the Project Manager and have a secondary reporting line to the Senior WHSEQ Advisor for Building and Construction.
Your core purpose will be to provide operational teams with expert assistance in implementing WHSEQ functions at the project level, ensuring a safe workplace for all.
You will be instrumental in mentoring and supporting teams, while also driving and monitoring compliance with our Business Management Systems across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
* Drive Safety Program Implementation: Lead the effective implementation of the Safety Program and SIFER tools, ensuring KPI achievement and continuous improvement in safety performance across projects.
* Mentor and Train Operational Teams: Provide expert guidance and training to operational teams on WHSEQ matters, fostering a proactive safety culture.
* Ensure Compliance and Risk Management: Conduct regular safety assessments and observations, ensure adherence to BMS processes, and assist in developing Project Risk Assessment Registers and WHSEQ Management Plans.
* Active Site Engagement and Incident Management: Participate in daily site meetings, facilitate workforce feedback, and promptly complete incident investigations to communicate lessons learned and preventative actions.
* Support Operational WHSEQ Needs: Assist with SWMSs, JSEAs, subcontractor onboarding, and facilitate interactions with unions and regulators.
* Promote Continuous Improvement: Contribute to WHSEQ communications and bulletins, share positive initiatives, and support audit preparation.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
* Minimum 3 years of experience in WHSEQ.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in the building and construction industry.
* Hold a Certificate IV in WHS, a Current Valid Driver's Licence, a Construction Industry White Card, and a First Aid qualification. You will also need the ability to obtain ADF DCAC & Police Check.
* Possess a good understanding of WHSEQ principles and construction methodology relevant to our customer streams, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office and demonstrate good time management skills with the ability to work independently.
* Proven ability to build strong relationships within operational teams.
