EL1 Project Manager – Digital Experience (Contract | ACT | Hybrid | Baseline)
So, you're a Project Manager. Not the Gantt-chart-polisher kind. The proper kind. The type who can drive digital projects, herd cats (aka stakeholders), and make government transformation actually happen.
We've got a contract gig that could use someone exactly like that. If you're looking for 12 months of meaningful, resume-polishing work – with the option to extend – this might be worth 3 minutes of your time.
What's the actual job?
This job is about rebuilding the digital experience within a Cultural Collections Agency, external and internal. They need someone who can lead a chunky, complex project with a bunch of moving parts and people. It's part tech uplift, part user-focused, part classic government delivery.
You'll be sitting at the EL1 level, so you'll be the grown-up in the room. Expect to plan, lead, influence, unblock, communicate, repeat.
You'll love this if you:
- Know how to steer a digital project across multiple business units without losing your sanity
- Can explain Agile to a room full of waterfall veterans without sparking a mutiny
- Like a hybrid work setup (Canberra-based, 40 hrs/week max – no one's expecting 60)
- Know your way around vendors, contracts, risk, and executive reporting
- Understand how to do this stuff inside the APS without needing a step-by-step
You'll need to:
- Be an Aussie citizen (non-negotiable)
- Be able to obtain a Baseline clearance (holding one already is a bonus)
- Submit a 1-page pitch that proves you can do all the things listed below
- Actually be good at your job (no seriously, we can tell)
Bonus points for:
- Experience in the cultural/archives space
- Familiarity with Altus by Sensei
- Knowing what digital accessibility actually means
- Managing delivery in that hybrid Agile/Waterfall soup we all pretend is "blended"
