Australia's firearm regulations are widely regarded as a global benchmark, yet systematic gaps remain and addressing them is key to preventing future firearm related tragedies
On 1 July 2024, the National Firearms Register (NFR) Program commenced. The NFR will function as a unified system, drawing information from existing Commonwealth, state and territory firearms registries, portals and management platforms into one centralised database. This will provide national oversight by providing a clear end to end view of firearms, ownership and licensing information across all states and territories. The NFR will enhance police and community safety and improve law enforcement capability.
About the role:
The Assistant Manager will lead a team of Data Quality Officers contributing to and performing large-scale data remediation to ensure compliance with local and national standards. The Assistant Manager will take a proactive approach to establishing processes, stakeholder engagement, driving team performance, supporting the team through clear direction, goal setting, ensuring the health and wellbeing of individuals, and career development. You are a confident communicator, adaptable, intuitive and can quickly respond to emerging trends and priorities.

Your duties will include:
* Lead and mentor a team of employees undertaking data quality work to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
* Lead data remediation tasks to ensure data integrity.
* Implement data quality assurance processes and contribute to continuous improvement and reform across processes and procedures.
* Complete training for new staff and develop procedural guides.
* Promote best practice in data privacy and security.
* Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time-to-time.
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
* Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills, focusing on continuous learning and improvement.
* Ability to identify and effectively manage change impacts on staff, processes and stakeholders.
* Being able to identify training needs of staff and develop staff to support changing capability needs of the team.
* Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and escalate issues effectively.
* Proven problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse contexts.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service.
* A strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with databases and reporting tools.
Further Information:
* One (1) x full-time 3-year fixed term position available.
* This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
