Our School campus is located in the leafy inner east suburb of Canterbury, on land originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and blends period architecture with exciting contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities.
About The Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Strings Teacher, to join our team and contribute to the success of our Music program.
You will be responsible for face-to-face teaching of the Violin and Viola with associated preparation, marking, and reporting including supporting students through performances and exams. You will also partake in the recruitment and teaching of students in Year 3, 4 and 7 trials.
The successful candidate will organise and direct ensembles, assist with music events, excursions, and incursions, and support administrative tasks within the String Department. They will also contribute to the Music Academy program and are expected to regularly perform alongside students in rehearsals and concerts.
This is a 0.8 FTE fixed-term position, working Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, starting on 30 June 2025 and running through to August 2026.
About You
Knowledge & skills:
* The ability to teach Violin/Viola from beginner to advanced levels, including VCE Music, A.Mus and beyond.
* Demonstrated success with preparing students for internal and external practical examinations with the AMEB in particular.
* The ability to work as part of a fast-paced, dynamic and professional team.
Qualifications
* Music Degree or similar
* Education Degree or similar
* Valid Working with Children Check
* National Crime Check - if not VIT registered
