Summer is upon us! Blackman’s Brewery is seeking 2 x Kitchenhands (Level 1, Kitchen Assistant Grade 1) for the silly season and into Easter on a fixed-term part-time basis. The Blackman’s Torquay kitchen is a high energy, busy and fun environment that pumps out epic, super tasty food to complement the beers we brew.
We are an independent, family run, and owned brewery on the Surf Coast and Geelong. We make our beers with the best quality ingredients we can get our hands on and we give our beers the right amount of time in tank, we don't rush them through to meet deadlines. Our core range is made up of beers that cover a variety of flavours and styles, we want to make good beer for everyone. We love amazing hospitality and is our main goal for every person who walks through our doors to have a whole lot of fun.

Responsibilities of the role:
General cleaning duties within the kitchen and food prep areas, including the cleaning of cooking and general utensils used in the kitchen and restaurant.
Assisting other employees who are cooking or assisting with preparation of ingredients.
Compliance with hygiene regulations.
Freeze and preserve foods.
Being punctual, in correct attire, and compliance with the general guidelines outlined by the management.
Attend weekly team meetings.
Ensuring venue is left secure if opening or securing premises at the end of a shift.
Reporting incidents and consulting with other staff and Managers as required (minor/major incidents and accidents).
Evaluate food products to assure that quality standards are consistently attained.
Interact with Venue and Kitchen staff to assure that food production consistently exceeds the expectations of Brewery customers ensuring adherence to kitchen and food processes.
What we’re looking for in our kitchen team:
This role would suit anyone looking to kick off their career or looking to study / currently completing commercial cookery qualifications.
Sound knowledge of Food and Safety, HACCP standards. You must have a food safety certification issued by a registered training organisation.
Willingness to learn.
Ability to work in a high energy work workplace and remain calm.
Possess initiative and a 'can do' attitude.

We have two roles available with training and casual hours until 22nd December as we ramp up our summer venue operations. Roles will then transition to a fixed term part-time contract from 22nd December until 6th April offering 30 hours per week.
We really love good beer, but we really love good food as well and it's important to us that the quality of food we offer matches the quality of our beer.
