Offer description

This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

Nestled in the heart of the Midwest, Mingenew Primary School (PS) is an important and cherished part of the local community. We currently have an enrolment of 83 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Surrounded by established and productive farmland with the beautiful seaside town of Dongara only 30 minutes’ drive and the bustling regional city of Geraldton an hour away, Mingenew is a safe and vibrant community. GROH housing is available in Mingenew and the local township has a small supermarket, bakery, hotel, childcare, playgroup, polocrosse club, pony club, bowls club, tennis club and a sporting complex. In terms of employment for partners or family members there are several mining projects in the area, other schools within driving distance, health related employment, farming business and seasonal work. Local winter sports are popular and include football, hockey, and netball. On weekends and breaks there is an abundance of beautiful beaches a short drive away, camping spots and in Spring the wildflower season sees the region become a destination for families to explore the area. With Perth only an easy 4 hour drive or 55 minute flight from Geraldton, Mingenew is perfect for people wanting a safe and accessible place to live and work.

The Role

Mingenew PS students consistently achieve strong results in both school and system wide assessments. We are seeking a teacher who will be prepared to work with us to maintain our success and understand the importance of following whole school plans, will set high expectations for themselves and their students, and work collaboratively with their colleagues and families to ensure that every student can make progress. The ability to use data from school and system assessments to plan lessons that meet student learning needs in a multi-age classroom setting is highly valued.

At Mingenew PS, we use an internal instructional coach and regular collaboration time to support educators to use high quality instructional strategies and teach explicitly. We aim for high fidelity and low variance in the implementation of whole school programs in Literacy and Numeracy. Experience implementing Sounds Write or a similar phonics program is well regarded. A dedicated Duties Other Than Teaching (DOTT) provider will teach Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Science, The Arts, and Physical Education, but you will be responsible for all other learning areas in the Year 1-2 classroom. We are looking for someone with an understanding of Teaching for Impact and experience using similar whole-school approaches and programs in their practice.

You should ideally utilise effective behaviour management strategies to establish and maintain an organised, orderly, and learning-focused classroom and model positive and professional communication and behaviour.

Due to the size of our school all our classrooms are multi-age and in 2026 the profile will consist of a Kindy-Pre-Primary, Year 1-2, Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 class. All classes receive some support from Education Assistants throughout the week.
