* This is an immediate start position
As a Diploma qualified educator, you are expected to be an active leader of a team that provides high quality early childhood education and care to children.
This includes:
* Developing strong relationships with children at the service.
* Building relationships that support and partner with families.
* Implementing and upholding the policies, procedures and practices of the organisation.
* Working with other staff towards continuous improvement in all areas of the service's operations and service.
* General Responsibilities (as detailed below)
Program Planning and Implementation
Assist the Educational Leader/Service Director in developing and implementing a stimulating, play‑based educational program aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Collaborate with educators to plan and implement age‑appropriate learning experiences and activities. Support educators in documenting children's learning and development, including observations, assessments, and individual learning plans. Ensure the program reflects the needs, interests, and cultural backgrounds of each child.
Staff Supervision and Support
Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to educators, promoting best practices in early childhood education. Supervise and monitor the work of educators, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Collaborate with the Educational Leader/Service Director in conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback. Support the professional development of educators, identify training needs and facilitate relevant opportunities.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, and relevant legislation and regulations. Participate in the assessment and rating process, actively contributing to the continuous improvement of the centre's practices and outcomes. Assist in conducting regular audits and checks to maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene within the centre. Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement among the team.
Communication and Collaboration
Foster open and effective communication between team members, families, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with families to support children's individual needs, goals, and transition processes. Work closely with the Educational Leader/Service Director to ensure consistent implementation of centre policies and procedures. Promote positive relationships within the team, modelling respectful and professional behaviour.
Child Well‑being and Inclusion
Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that promotes children's well‑being, belonging, and active participation. Encourage and support the development of positive relationships between educators and children. Collaborate with families and external professionals to provide additional support for children with diverse learning or developmental needs.
Required Skills and Experience
* Diploma of Children's Services or equivalent
* Working With Children's Check – Blue Card
* Child protection training: Identifying and responding to children and young people at risk of harm
* Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificates
* Understanding of the NQF and NQS
* Understanding of and commitment to competency early childhood practice that is informed by the Early Years Learning Framework
* Effective skills in communication, time management and programming and planning
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of relevant legislative policies, standards and requirements
* Demonstrated ability to build constructive working relationships with families and staff
