This role is a key position in addressing the drivers of over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in custody. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with the Aboriginal community and key stakeholders to successfully deliver programs.
They will assist Directors and Managers in addressing the drivers of over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in custody, providing direct input to the development of the Community and Custodial priorities and plans.
The role requires a strong understanding of effective practice and culturally appropriate services, as well as the ability to coordinate and administer the Aboriginal Regional Advisory Committee (ARAC) and promote initiatives that enhance the career development of identified staff.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with the Aboriginal community and key stakeholders, assisting Directors and Managers in addressing the drivers of over-representation, and providing direct input to the development of Community and Custodial priorities and plans.
Additionally, the role involves coordinating and administering the ARAC, promoting initiatives that enhance the career development of identified staff, and co-facilitating culturally specific educational workshops for regional staff.
