**Regular duties & responsibilities include**:
- Assist by working one-on-one or in a group supporting students from the SEP unit
- Setting up of practical workshops and classrooms prior to a demonstration lesson by IDT teachers, replenishing supplies and moving equipment between workshops.
- Monitor the quantities of equipment, materials and supplies in the IDT department and advise the HOD when purchases are required.
- Unpack deliveries of equipment and materials into appropriate storage facilities. This will require operating IDT plant & equipment such as a table saw, band saw, thicknesser, docking saw, etc.
- Responsibility for ensuring the maintenance of equipment, tools (e.g. chisel and plane sharpening), and machinery at regular intervals or engaging the appropriate external tradespersons i.e. a qualified electrician. This includes operating IDT plant & equipment, performing simple welding* tasks and undertaking minor departmental maintenance.
- Provide administrative assistance to teachers as requested.
- Ability to use and/or learn a variety of computer software packages including Microsoft Office and Auto desk (would be an advantage, however training will be provided).
- An IDT Teacher Aide must demonstrate a minimum standard of competency on the use of a range of potentially dangerous equipment and must receive some technical training on standard IDT plant & equipment and expected related maintenance tasks. Training designed to provide basic skills in welding, hand tools and the use of some workshop machinery is desirable.
- Assist with general tidiness of workshops and rooms
- Engrave and label new items of equipment
- Build fixtures and jigs when required
- Meet HOD's timeframe for planned task
Staff employed have responsibilities relating to Occupational Health and Safety which require you to recognise and support all Workplace Health and Safety Manuals, Policies, and Procedures, in addition to taking reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of yourself, and others at the workplace.
