Full Time– Fixed Term

About the role

There is currently one (1) position available from 19 January 2026 for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency, subject to business requirements.

Legal Aid has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic office all-rounder to join our team in Broome. Working as part of our busy team, you will spend a large part of your day being the first point of contact with the public and assisting with their legal issues. The role involves screening a high volume of phone calls, emails, and in-person counter enquires, then matching and connecting the public to legal services or where appropriate, providing legal information or referrals.

You will also undertake a wide range of administrative duties including scheduling appointments, preparing court lists, data entry, processing Legal Aid applications (operating within our Client Relationship Management system), liaising with stakeholders within and outside Legal Aid, general office operational duties and providing administrative support to our lawyers. Training will be ongoing, and you will have the opportunity to develop paralegal skills in this role.

* Have excellent attention to detail and accurate keyboard and computer skills
* Be able to effectively communicate with both colleagues and clients
* Feel comfortable assisting people from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life, in-person and over the phone (including persons with complex needs, drug and alcohol issues, mental health issues, or in a distressed state).
* Be able to follow procedures and organise yourself to meet deadlines.
* Be able to work under pressure in a fast paced and often demanding environment
* Have administration experience
* Be keen to learn and share knowledge

Previous experience working in a legal setting or similar work environment and other service providers in the community is desirable but not essential.

This selection process may be used to fill other similar Legal Aid WA vacancies, in addition to this vacancy, for up to twelve (12) months from the completion date of the selection process. The panel may also search for further candidates beyond the closing date.

Appointment to all positions at Legal Aid WA is subject to a satisfactory national criminal history check, integrity and conflict checks, and 100-point identification check.
