We are seeking few passionate and driven Farm Hands to join our team in Nericon (NSW). The Farm hand will assist in the efficient operation and management of the farm. The role will operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plough up, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. The role will also assist with minor repairs and maintenance of vehicles, assets, and equipment.
Farm Hand:
Key operational accountabilities include:
* Operate tractors, tractor-drawn attachments, and other farm machinery.
* Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.
* Set up and operate irrigation equipment.
* Apply pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers to crops.
* Clear and maintain irrigation ditches.
* Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting.
* Assisting with minor repairs and maintenance of vehicles, assets, and equipment.
* Perform farm labouring and maintenance tasks (e.g., trellis repairs, irrigation repairs).
* Perform daily pre-start checks.
* Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs.
* Dig and plant seeds, or transplant seedlings by hand.
* Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand.
* Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities.
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
* Minimum two years' experience within horticultural industry.
* Knowledge and experience with precision ag technology
* Comfortable using modern technology such as smart phones
* Current unencumbered Driver's License
* Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude
* Team player who can work effectively with people from different backgrounds
* Awareness and ability to adhere to WHS requirements
* Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets
* A truck license, Chemical Accreditation (ChemCert) and a valid forklift license would be considered an advantage
