Overview
Family Support Worker role at MacKillop Family Services. The position is based in Karratha, WA within the Intensive Family Support / Family Care Support Services Program. This is a Full-Time Fixed Term opportunity (38 hours per week) until 30/06/2026, reporting to the Coordinator Pilbara Services.

Salary range: $76,376 - $81,906 + Super + $5k allowance + Salary Packaging Benefits.
The Programs work alongside parents and family carers in the Pilbara region who have children in their care to improve safety and connectedness with local community services. The major emphasis of the Program is to provide high support services based on a thorough understanding of the child while supporting carers. A case plan is developed for each family in collaboration with MacKillop case managers to deliver the service.

Responsibilities
- Provide regular in-home, practical and emotional support to families daily.
- Assist carers to attend appointments and access community groups and activities.
- Provide after-school and evening support to assist the family.
- Undertake continual assessment in consultation with case workers allocated to the family.
- Work closely with MacKillop case managers to deliver the service.
Key Selection Criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and families.
- Qualification and/or experience in the human services or related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of vulnerable children, young people and families, including understanding trauma, attachment and child development.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with capacity to liaise with other agencies and the community.
- Understanding of the child protection and out-of-home care service system.

Must Have
- Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist with the application.
