Mackay Regional Council is seeking a motivated Development Planner (DPE405) to help shape the future of our growing community by delivering timely, customer-focused assessment of low-risk development applications.
About this opportunity:
* Assess and manage development applications in accordance with planning legislation, Council policy and service standards.
* Deliver high-quality planning services with a strong focus on customer experience, consistency and statutory compliance.
* Participate in pre-lodgement meetings and respond to planning enquiries, providing practical, timely advice to applicants, consultants and community members.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support well-informed applications and efficient assessment.
* Work as a supportive team member who values safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement, and who is keen to learn and be involved.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
* Degree in Urban and Regional Planning (or progressing) or a related field.
* 1–3 years' experience in development assessment and/or statutory planning (local government experience desirable).
* Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with customers and stakeholders, including participation in pre-lodgement meetings.
* A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and ask questions when needed.
* Current C Class driver licence.
* A team player and self-starter who is eager to learn, be involved and contribute to continuous improvement.

* Base annual salary of $99,911.99 + applicable allowances.
