About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Production Planning & Services, you will be an integral member of a dynamic and results‑driven team. This role's primary focus is providing mining schedules for a three‑month to two‑year time horizon, including sequencing out to five years for the medium‑term plan. You will be responsible for creating mine plans that consider all aspects of the mining cycle and are optimised to create maximum value for Olympic Dam.
This role will see you develop influential relationships with multiple functions and stakeholders, including senior leadership. You will be required to work directly with site leadership and planning professionals to ensure long‑term strategic value is captured once executed in the near term.
You will also have access to excellent career opportunities as this role has been designed to broaden appreciation of the entire value chain through interaction with processing, finance, projects, operations, marketing, geoscience and geotechnical disciplines. These interactions will enable you to demonstrate your commercial acumen and strategic thinking skills through delivery of high‑quality planning. The team has various roles such as mine area planning and functional activity planning to facilitate growth and diversity in work scope.
This position is based in Adelaide, offering flexibility and hybrid working. Routine site travel to Olympic Dam is required.
* Produce monthly, quarterly and budget plans that have been optimised to meet all required safety, mining and business constraints.
* Provide and communicate risks and opportunities from the executable plans you have produced to functional and mine leadership teams.
* Drive continuous improvement through plan‑on‑plan compliance tracking and communication of mitigating strategies where required.
* Mentor and coach junior engineers to enable a high‑performing team and a culture of care.
* Participate in field leadership activities to drive improvements within our safety culture and to build cross‑functional relationships.
About You
Ideally you would have tertiary qualifications in Engineering (e.g. Mining/Civil), and relevant mining industry experience, with a deep understanding of the key value drivers and mine planning strategies across a range of commodities and geographies.
* Ability to develop planning strategies, identify, and mitigate potential risks.
* Competency in appropriate mine planning software platforms including Deswik Suite.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence.
