The redevelopment of Macquarie Point is an urban renewal project in central Hobart, which will see a former industrial site revitalised into an exciting mixed-use precinct incorporating a multipurpose stadium. The Manager, Work Health and Safety as a senior member of the Corporation, will lead in managing risk and health and safety for the Corporation. The role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining strategic and comprehensive safety, programs and provide advice to ensure a safe and compliant work environment, internally and across the delivery of projects including the Multipurpose Stadium at Mac Point.

Hours per fortnight
Full-time, flexible 73.50 hours per fortnight
Duties:
1. Develop, implement, and continually enhance compliance frameworks and risk management strategies aligned with the Corporation's strategic objectives across the organisation and Multipurpose Stadium and project delivery more broadly. This includes risk monitoring, internal audits, gap assessments, regulatory reporting and management of compliance audits (including WHS, environmental, and operational audits).
2. Maintain and review policies and procedures, and prepare reports for the Executive team, Board and other governance forums as required.
3. Lead the management of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) programs, during the design, development and delivery of complex capital projects. This includes contractor, visitor, and volunteer management, injury management, and return-to-work initiatives.
4. Prepare and coordinate WHS requirements for procurement and tender processes. Effectively deliver, monitor compliance and provide advice on the WHS aspects of contracts.
5. Ensure Corporation frameworks, strategies, policies and procedures are compliant and benchmarked against government and industry standards (including the Green Guide), for projects of this type, size and complexity. Oversee organisational compliance with relevant Tasmanian and Australian regulations, policies, and planning frameworks.
6. Provide timely advice and strategic guidance to the Executive Team, and broader staff, as well as Board and project governance, in risk management for large capital projects.
7. Identify, analyse and resolve emerging issues and risks as they arise. Develop, manage and socialise robust reporting on risks, incidents and health and safety management to drive transparency, continuous improvement and organisational risk mitigation. This includes robust incident investigation and WHS performance reporting.
8. Provide leadership, direction and oversight on all aspects on work health and safety to ensure they are integral to ways of working for the redevelopment of Macquarie Point.
9. Contribute to a strong culture of risk and compliance awareness, ownership and integration, through engagement with Executive Team, Consultants and Contractors, as well as leading capability-building initiatives for staff at all levels.
10. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the Corporation's risk and compliance objectives. Ensure regular communications on risk management and work health and safety to keep delivery partners, stakeholders and the community informed.
11. Effective leadership and management of a team, fostering a motivated, productive and strong team culture, high performance and supporting professional development, to support the team to deliver a safety focussed culture.
12. Perform other duties at the classification level that are within the employee's competence and training.
13. Actively participate as part of our team, maintaining an understanding of current work and priorities, the operating environment and contributing to a safe, productive and supportive team environment.
* Experience in providing advice and working on large scale and/or complex construction projects.
* Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, or a related field, including Construction Management.
* Proven experience in a Work Health and Safety role.
