Quality Assurance Engineer

* Full-Time (35hpw) Temporary to June 2027
* Salary Range $113,574 - $125,720pa + super
* Location flexible across Revenue NSW offices with landing days at Parramatta

We are currently looking out for a Quality Assurance Engineer to support a major program of work for NSW Government. As a member of our collaborative delivery team, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of business-critical systems by designing, managing, and executing comprehensive testing strategies. This role requires hands-on experience across functional, non-functional, and regression testing, along with active participation in end-to-end feature delivery and business engagement. 
 
The project is designed to enhance the standard resolution process for customers with tax debt by introducing a decision engine model. This model will specify the actions required to resolve each account and will automate bulk processing tasks, significantly reducing manual effort. By streamlining the debt resolution process, the project aims to improve resolution efficiency and lower the risks related to overdue debts.  

The project will be overseen by the Tax Debt Principal Product Owner, with a dedicated team of Business Analysts, Developers, and Quality Assurance professionals assigned to execute the project according to the delivery roadmap. 

Key responsibilities:

* Create and manage detailed test plans, status updates and summary reports, aligning test activities with project milestones. 
* Analyse complex business requirements, user stories and system solutions to develop effective test coverage for new and existing features. 
* Lead and contribute to the test strategy for key deliverables and understanding of MARS system & tax debt recovery workflows is preferred. 
* Ensure efficient and timely testing through structured planning and coordination with cross-functional teams. 
* Manage and execute manual and automated testing efforts and knowledge of testing batch jobs. 
* Conduct EPS testing and support UAT with development teams, ensuring successful business handover, sign-off and end-to-end feature ownership. 
* Monitor compliance, identify and resolve issues, and ensure consistent quality assurance across the delivery lifecycle. 
* Support team development by participating in team-building activities, onboarding new testers, and fostering a collaborative team environment. 
* Provide support and advice with implementation of quality assurance recommendations to both external and internal stakeholders to ensure quality assurance objectives are met. 

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

* Proven ability to create and deliver test documentation including test plans, test scripts, and reports, and assign tasks to team members. 
* Strong background in both manual and automated testing, including SQL scripting for backend validation. 
* Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade tools such as HP QC, JIRA, Selenium and TFS. 
* Experience testing systems with internet delivery, Unix-based platforms and batch processing environments. 
* Solid knowledge of XML and other structured data formats for test data creation and validation. 
* Demonstrated testing experience within Agile/Scrum delivery models. 
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities while maintaining high-quality standards.
