About the Role
This is a great opportunity for a technically strong Financial Accountant ready to step up and take ownership of core financial operations. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll ensure accurate reporting, maintain compliance with key accounting standards, and support the wider team in delivering reliable insights. You'll also guide junior staff and play a central role during audit and tax time. Ideal for someone who's ready to move beyond the numbers and influence broader financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with AASB and IFRS standards
* Lead the external audit process, ensuring supporting schedules and reconciliations are complete and audit-ready
* Manage tax effect accounting including deferred tax, FBT, franking accounts, and Div 7A compliance
* Maintain and oversee the Fixed Assets Register, ensuring correct treatment of tax depreciation
* Collaborate with external tax advisors and ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation
* Develop and enforce strong internal controls, ensuring integrity of financial systems and data
* Conduct regular reviews to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks
* Support the Financial Controller with budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
* Provide insights and commentary on financial performance to assist with decision-making
* Supervise and mentor Finance Officers, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture
About You
* CA or CPA qualified
* Confident preparing financial statements to AASB/IFRS standards
* Experienced in managing audits and working with tax advisors
* Skilled in Excel and familiar with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., MYOB Advanced or similar)
* A team-focused leader who values accuracy, structure, and continuous improvement
