How you will create an impact
Energy Risk Engineers are responsible for working with account engineers, underwriters, clients, and brokers to help identify and improve risk for various energy sectors, including but not limited to: Power Generation, Renewable Energy, Oil and Petroleum, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Upstream and Mining. The Energy Risk Engineers are integral in allowing AIG to better understand exposures and contribute specialized knowledge to help in identifying and mitigating risks.This position is home-based with fieldwork conducted at insured facilities.
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
* Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
* Minimum five (5) years of industry experience in either Power Generation, and or Mining or specialized risk engineering experience in these fields
* Knowledge of a wide range of occupancies, exposures per best business practices
* Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems as well as the ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, exercise influence, and manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects
* Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions
* Superb verbal and written communication skills
* Position is expected to travel and attend meetings at various offices, fields, plants, facilities and construction sites
What you’ll need to succeed
* Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics

* Knowledge of a wide range of occupancies, exposures per best business practices
* Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems as well as the ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, exercise influence, and manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects
* Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions
* Superb verbal and written communication skills
* Position is expected to travel and attend meetings at various offices, fields, plants, facilities and construction sites
* Strong influencing and communications skills; able to work across multiple areas both internally and externally.
* Demonstrable experience formulating initiatives that support broader organisational aims.
* Experienced in building relationships externally and internally and managing key stakeholder relationships.
* The individual must be able to make decisions with and without established guidelines and to provide technical support to account engineers, underwriters, and clients.
* Industry experience with real world knowledge of the challenges in the Energy sectors.
* Ability to perform inspections of Energy and Construction facilities, both visually and with instruments.
Additional Requirements
* Ability to perform physical activities required for the position (i.e., be on feet and walking 8-10 hours a day, safely work at heights).
* Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards.
* Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolds, lifts and other access equipment.
* Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 20 kgs.
* Ability to perform work in the outdoors.
* Ability to wear safety equipment required for the position (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection).
* Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations.
* Ability to type at a computer for several hours a day.
* Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
