Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service-Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC) is the leading provider of a comprehensive range of culturally appropriate primary healthcare services to enhance the health and emotional well-being of the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community of Tamworth and surrounding districts.
TAMS-AC is an Aboriginal community-controlled health service on the land of the Gomeroi people, based in Tamworth NSW.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a committed and compassionate General Practitioner to join our dedicated team.
As a GP, you will play a key role in providing patient-centered care, making a positive impact on community health outcomes.
This role is based in Tamworth and services our outreach sites in Gunnedah and Nundle.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive, culturally appropriate primary healthcare to patients.
Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions.
Work collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in line with organisational policies and procedures.
Ensure culturally safe communication and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
About you:
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with patients, staff, and the broader community.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Must have a current Working with Children's Check and Police Check.
Previous experience working in Aboriginal health, rural, or remote healthcare is highly desirable but not essential.
Must be able to work independently or without supervision.
