This is an opportunity to join a well-capitalised, privately owned non-bank lender that has built a strong reputation in the residential mortgage market through consistent growth and disciplined lending. With a robust balance sheet, entrepreneurial leadership, and a genuine borrower-first approach, the business is continuing to scale its home lending and specialist mortgage capability.
If you're currently in a major bank or large institutional lender and feeling constrained by rigid policy, slow decision-making, or limited authority, this role offers a move into a more agile, commercially minded mortgage environment where experience is trusted and outcomes matter.
The Opportunity This is a newly created role, reporting directly to a senior leader, where you'll play a hands-on role assessing and structuring residential mortgage and specialist home loan transactions. You'll work closely with decision-makers, gain exposure to more complex and non-standard scenarios, and contribute to how the mortgage portfolio evolves as the business grows.
This role suits someone who enjoys accountability, wants to deepen their lending judgement, and values working in a business where culture, speed, and common sense genuinely exist.
What You'll Be Doing
* Assessing residential mortgage applications, including PAYG, self-employed, and non-standard borrowers
* Conducting detailed credit analysis across income, liabilities, living expenses, and security
* Writing clear, commercially sound credit submissions covering borrower profile, structure, and risk
* Analysing financial statements, tax returns, BAS, and ATO portal data for self-employed clients
* Assessing non-conforming and outside-policy scenarios using strong credit judgement
* Working closely with senior leadership, credit, legal, and compliance teams
* Liaising with brokers, borrowers, accountants, solicitors, and valuers to progress deals
* Representing the lender professionally in broker and client interactions
What We're Looking For
* 2+ years' experience in mortgage lending or home loan credit assessment
* Strong understanding of residential lending policy, borrower risk, and security assessment
* Confidence assessing self-employed and complex income structures
* Exposure to non-conforming, specialist, or alternative mortgage lending
* Clear written communication skills – you can articulate risk without hiding behind policy jargon
* A proactive, ownership-driven mindset
* Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Business, or similar (highly regarded)
Why This Role Stands Out
* Direct access to senior decision-makers – no unnecessary layers
* Real influence in a growing mortgage and specialist lending portfolio
* Faster decisions, broader lending discretion, and commercial common sense
* Competitive salary and strong benefits (wellness initiatives, gym benefits, novated leasing, and more)
* Long-term career progression in a business that genuinely promotes from within
If you're ready to step away from rigid bank structures and into a faster-moving, growth-focused non-bank mortgage lender, this role offers both challenge and momentum.
