About Pioneer Village School
Pioneer Village School is a non‐denominational primary school providing a values focused education for students aged three and up. We understand the importance of supporting the whole child and pride ourselves on the fact our students graduate as respectful and kind people.
Role Overview
This role targets motivated educators with strong curriculum knowledge who are dedicated to developing a love of learning in their students. Strong verbal and digital communication skills are a must to thrive in our busy school environment. New staff will be supported to up‐skill over time and a willingness to learn, grow and collaborate with our small teaching team is essential.
Teaching Philosophy & Programs
Our school follows research‐based strategies to improve student performance. Suitable applicants will be committed to developing their knowledge of evidence‐based strategies to enhance student achievement, including high‐impact teaching strategies and the Science of Reading.
Programs used at the school include the PLD synthetic phonics program, Talk for Writing and Keeping Safe Protective Behaviours. We do not use a mathematics textbook, and our team have been trained in Mathematics strategies with AISWA and Dr Paul Swan utilising his resources and First Steps Mathematics strategies. Experience with these programs and resources will be highly regarded. Applicants with a willingness to learn and no experience with these programs are also encouraged to apply.
We are a multi‐age grouping school and our primary classroom configurations are all multi‐age. Experience programming for multi‐age groups as a cohesive class or a willingness to learn strategies to plan for multi‐age groupings will be highly regarded.
Our classrooms cater for a range of students with diverse learning needs and cultures. We follow a response‐to‐intervention model to ensure our students' progress and have a restorative justice approach to behaviour management. Teachers with strong knowledge of creating safe spaces in classrooms, catering for students with diverse needs—including gifted students—and building positive relationships with students and families are encouraged to apply.
We value play in children's development. Suitable applicants will work diligently to ensure students practice skills through play and may use their imagination. Play at PVS is organised in a developmentally appropriate way with student‐guided play embedded in programs. Our older learners use games for fluency practice and engage in more student‐guided play during brain and play breaks. It is essential that educators understand the importance of creating highly engaging learning experiences and value finding the fun in class with their students.
As a small school we value hiring staff with a range of experience so they can work across the school and share expertise in certain areas with the team. All applicants must have highly reflective teaching practices committed to evidence‐based decision making.
