About the Role
Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, within the Rail team your responsibilities include:
* An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
* Ensure compliance with Rail Safety Act 2010 and any other legislative requirements.
* Ensure all incidents, hazards and observations are recorded and actions implemented in a timely manner.
* Assist with Incident Investigations, and/or Risk Assessments as required.
* Manage effective workplace relations with inter-departmental personnel.
* Works well in a team environment with the ability to work autonomously.
* Rectifies faults in a timely manner.
* Complete scheduled maintenance tasks.
* Provide technical advice to management, including the identification of continuous improvement opportunities.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
* Trade Certificate in Electronics and Communications and/or Certificate III in Data and Voice Communications UEE30411
* WA "C" Class Manual Driver's License.
* ACMA Open Cabler's License, including all endorsements.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Competence with Microsoft suite.
* Demonstrated high quality of work and technical ability.
* Yield for continuous improvement opportunities.
* Knowledge of any or all;
o SDH/PDH/DWDM transmission systems.
o Microwave and Optic Fibre communications.
o Ethernet and IP Networks.
o P25 Digital and Analogue radio maintenance and repairs.
o Battery & Solar power systems.
o Rail asset protection systems.
o Vehicle Driver Safety Systems
* Demonstrated experience in Mining or Rail industries
Location
In this full-time permanent role, you have an option for residential based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Or you will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on, 6 days off roster.
Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North-West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.
The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally, you will have access to the state-of-the-art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms in the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
