About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Assistant Branch Manager to help lead daily branch operations, develop our people, and grow revenue through outstanding customer service, disciplined financial management, and smarter asset utilisation. You'll act as 2IC to the Branch Manager—confidently stepping in to run the branch when required—while coaching the team, supporting key accounts, and driving continuous improvement across operations, pricing, stock control, and fleet management.
Manage daily operations in the Branch Manager's absence, ensuring service levels, safety, and compliance are met.
Review customer survey feedback and implement actions to resolve dissatisfaction and enhance retention.
Collaborate with Account Managers to exceed revenue targets and strengthen customer relationships.
Provide recommendations on general price book and customer-specific pricing to support competitiveness and margins.
Partner with the Branch Manager to develop account and cash customer markets and grow key accounts while maintaining appropriate credit terms.
Build a high‐performing team through ongoing training, coaching, and capability development.
Develop Assistant Branch Managers to ensure branch financial and operational goals are met.
Contribute to annual development plans and succession opportunities with the Branch Manager and Training team.
Identify, analyse, and adjust branch fleet for maximum utilisation and ROI.
Implement operational improvements to maximise equipment utilisation and return on investment.
Conduct regular stocktakes and maintain accurate records of equipment, including security, maintenance, and all non‐hire assets.
Discuss and execute the branch strategic plan, directing resources to achieve goals.
Report on regional progress—highlighting achievements and identifying shortfalls and corrective actions.
Assist in branch financial management and promptly report any serious incidents or potential liabilities to the Branch Manager.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* Experience in an operational leadership role (e.g., 2IC, Supervisor, Team Leader, Assistant Manager).
* Strong commercial acumen—comfortable with pricing, margin, credit terms, and P&L drivers.
* Demonstrated success in coaching teams and building capability.
* Proven skills in inventory control, stocktake accuracy, and asset/fleet utilisation.
* Customer-first mindset with a track record of growing accounts and improving satisfaction.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
* Solid understanding of WHS, incident reporting, and operational compliance.
* Experience in equipment hire, industrial supplies, logistics, or related sectors would be preferred but not essential.
* Exposure to CRM/ERP systems and data-driven decision-making would be preferred but not essential.
