About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Principal Legal Officer to join our team in Katherine, Northern Territory.
This leadership position offers the opportunity to work closely with a senior colleague and develop your leadership capabilities and career development plan.
The Deputy PLO will support the PLO to manage the day-to-day legal operations, provide supervision and mentoring to junior solicitors, and represent us in both legal and community settings.
About You
To be eligible, you must be an admitted solicitor in Australia and hold a Northern Territory Practising Certificate.
You will also bring at least 4 years of post-admission experience in a relevant legal practice area.
A strong background in DFSV, family law or child protection, plus expertise working within NT legislation or ability to upskill, is highly regarded. We're looking for someone who can demonstrate their ability to work in trauma-informed and culturally responsive ways, has experience working with Aboriginal communities, and is committed to cultural safety. Additionally, you should have excellent legal writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as valid Working with Children's Check (Ochre Card), National Police Clearance, and Manual Driver's Licence.
