The Opportunity
We are seeking an organised and delivery-focused Safety Project Coordinator to lead the development of our clients - Towing Safety - Best Practice Safety Guidelines. This 6-month project is a key initiative to modernise incident response and towing safety standards across the state road network.
New to Traffic or Transport? We are specifically looking for a proven safety professional, advisor, or technical specialist who can apply a critical safety lens to operational procedures. Whether your background is in Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction, or Manufacturing, your ability to identify risks and document safe work practices is exactly what we need.
The Role
You will be the driving force behind the research, consultation, and drafting of comprehensive safety guidelines. Your goal is to ensure these guidelines reflect operational realities while meeting legislative and safety objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
* Project Delivery: Manage milestones to ensure the guidelines are finalised and endorsed within the 6-month time frame.
* Stakeholder Consultation: Lead workshops and engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, including industry contractors, emergency services, and regulatory bodies.
* Drafting & Finalisation: Translate complex operational processes into clear, professional, and practical safety documentation.
* Progress Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations for executive stakeholders to ensure project transparency.
What You Bring
This role requires a blend of technical writing, project management, and interpersonal influence.
Essential Criteria:
* Safety Documentation: Demonstrated experience delivering safety guidelines, SOPs, or technical projects within a regulated environment.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to lead consultations and workshops with both field-based personnel and government/corporate representatives.
* Project Rigor: Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
* Safe System Knowledge: A solid understanding of occupational safety principles and the ability to apply them to practical documentation.
Desirable (but not deal-breakers):
* Knowledge of the Towing Services Regulations 2025 or Traffic Management Code of Practice (TMCoP).
* Background in incident management, heavy vehicle recovery, or high-risk field-based work settings.
Why Apply?
This is a high-visibility project where you can see a tangible result of your work in a short period. It is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional to transition their skills into a state government regulatory environment.
