About the role
This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm position working 35 hours per week. Located at the Woollamia Works Depot. The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position. Duties
Reporting directly to the Manager – Works & Services, the focus of this position is to:
4. Civil Infrastructure construction and maintenance.
5. Oversee after hour’s response by the Units resources to situations including emergency events.
6. Ensures that all written and verbal communication provided is correct, factual, timely, customer-focused and in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements and Council procedures.
7. Provides specialist advice in the area of Civil Engineering and manages major projects of a complex nature.
8. Ensures the Department Manager is aware of difficult/sensitive issues which arise and provides recommendations on resolution.
9. Consults and shares information within the Unit and across the organisation to ensure others are kept informed of issues.
10. Ensures work and behavior adds value to the business of Council, within area of responsibility and corporately.
11. Makes recommendations on improving relevant practices and procedures, including Policy review and implementation, to ensure an efficient, effective, customer-focused service is maintained.
12. Analyse and research responses prior to advising customers, to ensure effective, accurate results are given.
Skills & Experience
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
13. University Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
14. Not less than 5 years’ experience in the delivery of a wide range of civil infrastructure projects and maintenance programs, including allocation and management of resources.
15. Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, standards and guidelines.
16. Class C Driver’s License
17. Workcover General Induction Card (or willing to obtain)
18. Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
