The Team: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the North West Regional Hospital is an 8-bed unit that covers adult and paediatric ICU and HDU patients. We role model the Tasmanian Health CARE values and our own local value of TEAM ICU believing that ‘Together everyone achieves more’. As a clinical resource we seek an ongoing commitment to both personal professional growth and team growth. ICU is a specialized area that requires skilled staff to care for critically unwell patients requiring organ support via ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy and haemodynamic support. The Role: The North West Regional Hospital are seeking dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists to join our team in the ICU. The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Intensive Care Liaison (CNS) is a clinical expert who acts as a clinical/educational resource for nursing, medical and allied health staff involved in the management of patients with complex care needs within the ward setting, working with other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care for patients. The CNS will identify quality improvement or research activities on a hospital-wide approach and implement appropriate strategies to improve practice. Expected outputs are an improvement in patient outcomes, staff satisfaction, patient safety and an overall reduction in Intensive Care length of stay and readmissions. A key role of the position is to develop and maintain collaborative links between nursing, medical and allied health staff and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The CNS acts as a bridge between the skills and resources of the ICU and the ward environment, supporting continuity of care and patient flow, minimising relocation stress for patients and their families. The CNS will also provide a multidisciplinary team approach to patients who are clinically deteriorating both in the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and North West Private Hospital (NWPH) to both public and private patients within the co-located Private facility.
