This is a 12 month fixed term, full‐time position commencing in Term 3, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

Role Summary

DuncraigSHS is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to join our Student Services Team as Student Services Manager (Years 7 & 8).

Working closely with executive leaders and in collaboration with the Student Services team, you will contribute to consistent, high‐quality approaches that improve outcomes for all students. You will ideally display both strategic and operational leadership to support student wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and academic success across the Year 7 and 8 cohorts, contributing to the school's strategic direction through the application of professional knowledge, strong student support systems and data‐informed practice.

Responsibilities

You will lead the day‐to‐day operations of Student Services for Years 7 and 8, including line management of Year Coordinators and Student Support Staff, and oversight of pastoral care processes.

Using data to diagnose trends and respond to emerging needs, you should plan, implement and review targeted strategies aligned with the school's Business Plan to improve student outcomes academically, socially and emotionally.

A key focus of the role is supporting students through the transition into secondary school. You will play a central role in the planning and delivery of Year 6 into Year 7 Orientation and Transition programs, ensuring a strong start for all students, and oversee pastoral care and behaviour management across Years 7 and 8.

You will work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies to support students, particularly those who are educationally at risk. A strong understanding of case management, intervention planning and Department of Education (DoE) processes relating to wellbeing, attendance, engagement and child protection will be highly regarded, along with knowledge of contemporary practice and current Department of Education policy.

Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are highly desirable, including the ability to build trust, influence practice and lead a cohesive team within a fast‐paced environment. A proactive, flexible and solutions‐focused approach will be key to success in this role.
