This role is classified as Level 4 under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $98,483 - $106,689). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

This is a full-time contract role until 30th June 202. This role is classified as a shift worker. The working pattern is Monday – Friday 2.30pm – 11pm. This may be subject to change with business needs.

As a rostered shift worker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Editor, World News, in the senior editorial team you will:

* Support coverage of domestic events with a primary focus on national affairs, including Australian politics, economic and financial issues, social affairs including indigenous and multicultural affairs.
* Monitor international newslines for the late news bulletin.
* Inspire, initiate and oversee the production of compelling and relevant domestic content for Australian audiences and amplify diverse cultural and linguistic perspectives.
* Act as key contact with our content-sharing partners and other networks.
* Assign and manage journalists and camera crews considering SBS's editorial responsibilities, priorities, budgets and deadlines.
* Assign and manage a team of journalists across Australia and manage deployments.
* Maintain knowledge of technology for the cost-effective production and delivery of news content across television, audio and digital platforms.
* Contribute as a core member of the NACA editorial leadership team.

About You

* An experienced journalist with a keen interest in stories of interest to the national audience and a creative, adaptable approach to covering news and features.
* A collaborative, collegiate manager and editorial leader.
* A clear and open communicator.
* You will have a sound understanding of stories which resonate with our diverse audiences, and knowledge of SBS Charter and SBS Code of Conduct.
