ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES
Exciting opportunities exist across Regulatory Foundations Branch (RFB) and Regulatory Modernisation Branch (RMB) for talented and energetic Assistant Directors to lead whole-of-system reform and drive cross-portfolio initiatives.
RFB provides advice to Government and APS agencies on effective regulatory design and delivery, including through the Regulatory Policy, Practice and Performance Framework, Resource Management Guide 128 on Regulator Performance, and the Regulator Leadership Cohort. RFB is also responsible for Regulatory Law Reform, including the recently passed Regulatory Reform Omnibus Bill
RMB takes an agile approach to regulatory policy projects of high priority, including whole-of-government regulation of emerging technologies, building regulatory data and digital capability, and adopting a 'tell us once' approach to regulatory delivery to reduce the burden on individuals and businesses engaging with the Government.
Both branches are looking for team players who come from a range of disciplines, including policy, economics, law, digital and artificial intelligence, program delivery, human-centred-design and stakeholder engagement.
Assistant Directors in Regulatory Reform are often asked to supervise APS-level officers, responsible for their day-to-day management as well as their long-term development. Occasionally, Assistant Directors may be asked to support other Regulatory Reform teams or to act as Director.
