At BAE Systems we are all systems go as we continue to drive innovation and seek passionate and talented people to join our business. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor - Mechanical within our Maritime Australia based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA.

**In terms of more specific responsibilities, you will**:
Support the Superintendent in delivering Projects/area outputs within a manufacturing environment in accordance with the developed plan. This position will be required to organise trade resources to complete activities and tasks for specific projects. It will ensure all activities associated with the manufacture, production and assembly of components are produced in the most cost effective way whilst maintaining an efficient use of resources and meeting all safety, design, quality and budget requirements

**As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you will have**:

- Trade Certificate in Fitting and Machining
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and leadership in safe working systems and behaviours
- Strong mechanical background with skills in diagnostics and problem solving
- Thorough knowledge of complex high-volume equipment
- Provide direction, support, leadership and development to a diverse and talented team of Fitters and Apprentice's.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations

Skills & Attributes
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside his/her immediate team, to implement business requirements
- Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under his/her own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
- Ability to use valuable written and verbal communication skills is important to this role
- Ability to motivate individuals and teams across a number of business areas, to shape and implement business requirements
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management
- Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
- Ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this role
- Implement and monitor continuous improvement systems and processes
- Facilitate and capitalise on change and innovation by participating in the introduction and management of change in the workforce, develop creative and flexible solutions and manage emerging opportunities as challenges
- Contribute to a workplace learning environment by creating learning opportunities, promote learning and monitor and improve learning effectiveness

A strong commitment to safe work practices
A Defence security clearance is required for this role. Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
