Overview
About the role:
Land Command, Control, Communications and Computers Modernisation System Program Office is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Systems Engineer as part of the Land 1771 Tranche 2 engineering team. Project Land 1771 Tranche 2 Geospatial Support Systems will deliver GEOINT sensors and networks for a more effective and efficient GEOINT capability. The role is primarily focused on delivery of Gate 2 technical capability development documentation.
The services delivered in collaboration with, and under supervision of nominated Defence and project personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide dedicated system engineering skillset to the Geospatial project.
Development of required documentation for system certification activities.
Communication with the Capability Manager and other stakeholders.
Provide knowledge/skills transfer to other team members.
Record and maintain files/information in accordance with Defence requirements.
Specific Tasks for candidate's primary responsibility:
The Systems Engineer will exercise a considerable degree of independence and will perform a subject matter expert role. They will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert advice. They will have in-depth knowledge of the CASG engineering function and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of plans and procedures relevant to their work. The System Engineer will be responsible for CASG engineering functions in accordance with the CASG QMS and supporting Engineering and Technical activities and tasks within L1771 Tranche 2. Specifically the Systems Engineer will:
Lead, plan and deliver engineering activities and provide engineering advice, under broad direction.
· Prepare documentation and reports required for Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Interface Control Working Groups and System Safety Working Groups and represent L1771 at these forums when requested.
· Develop or review technical documentation including design, materiel certification, configuration management and engineering management documentation.
· Perform quality control on engineering documentation submitted to the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) by the various vendors.
· Be able to attain Technical Authority (TA) to a minimum of TA Level 4.
Experience/Skills Sought:
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following skills:
· Demonstrated experience and knowledge in System Engineering and CASG project experience,
· Demonstrated experience in delivering high quality capability documentation to enable the project to attain IMR, IOC, and FOC on time and budget,
Ability to perform an extensive range and variety of complex technical work activities with limited guidance demonstrating initiative, creativity and responsibility,
Demonstrated experience with systems and software safety, security and managing technical risk,
Experience working in complex and challenging environments,
Experience working in a complex stakeholder system,
Builds appropriate and effective business relationships,
Demonstrated experience with networking, computers and operating systems,
Communicates effectively both formally and informally including advanced technical writing skills,
Takes initiative to keep skills up to date, maintaining awareness of developments and continuous improvement opportunities, and
Ability to analyse, design, plan, execute, and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets while assessing and evaluating risk.
Essential:
Minimum of 5 years of engineering work experience in CASG.
Recognised Professional Engineer with IEAust.
4 year Bachelor or Honours degree in Engineering.
