The Position

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse with strong critical thinking skills, a proactive leadership style and a commitment to providing specialist care to our oncology, hematology and palliative patients. The successful candidate must have a 'can do' attitude and a genuine passion for supporting and bringing out the best in their team.

Working in this specialised area the applicant will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of clinical standards and will be directly responsible for:

* Integrating your technical skills, scientific knowledge and caring attitude to aid those living with cancer, including their families, starting from point of diagnosis, treatment, survivor-ship and through to end of life care
* Applying your advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of chemotherapy and targeted therapy administration and central venous line management, including medical same day infusions
* Identifying when a more detailed assessment and/or intervention is required and seek the input of clinical peers, the General Practitioner and other relevant health professionals
* Compliance with, and application of, current policies and procedures as well as an understanding of their implications for nursing practice and patient outcomes
* Building relationships with patients and their families while going above and beyond to provide exceptional patient care and clinical outcomes
* Role-model best practice and offer expert guidance, mentorship and clinical leadership to the team as well as act as a resource for evidence-based practice, clinical education and student support

The Person

Strong emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to demonstrate, commit to and apply the organisations values in the workplace.

Key Selection Criteria

1. Evidence of tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
2. Post Graduate Qualifications in Oncology/Haematology Nursing or willingness to work towards
3. Demonstrated recency of practice with a minimum of 2 years oncology/haematology experience, including administration of chemotherapy in a day infusion setting
4. Proficiency in CVAD management and IV cannulation skills, as well as the ability to successfully complete eviQ competencies
5. Demonstrated ability to assess and educate patients pre, during and post chemotherapy, including an in-depth knowledge of the expected side effects of cancer treatments
6. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, share information and work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team, including the ability to build trust
7. High level computer literacy and working knowledge of; RosterOn, TrendCare, Riskman Microsoft Office
8. Ability to assist the NUM lead and support the team through the provision of clinical guidance, role-modelling professional standards and mentoring of less experienced staff

It is a mandatory condition of employment that some roles within our hospital require you to be vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against some or all of the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis.
