About the Role

The position provides psychological services to adult consumers of the Casey Acute Crisis Intervention Service (ACIS). ACIS provides urgent community-based assessment and treatment options (including referral onwards, acute inpatient admission, and short-term treatment) to consumers in the acute phase of mental illness. The focus of the position is to provide evidence-based psychological services to adult consumers who are presenting with acute symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, personality disorders, depression and other mental health disorders. Key result areas:

* Conduct psychological assessments and provide meaningful feedback as per the model of care, including contributing to diagnostic clarification, formulation and treatment planning

* Use diagnosis, formulation, and consumers' preferences to develop and deliver effective, evidence-based psychological intervention as per the model of care, including:

* Single session therapy

* Psychoeducation about the nature of their mental illness, treatment options, and coping strategies

* Assist consumers to develop strategies to prevent relapse, including recognising early warning signs and developing strategies to address them

* Use evidence-based practice to develop and implement behaviour support plans

* Engage with families and carers, including providing psychoeducation about the nature of the consumer's mental illness, treatment options, and coping strategies

* Offer a psychological perspective to the treating team and other relevant stakeholders

* Engage in supervision as per supervision policies

* Practice ethically and professionally, including adhering to legal, ethical and organisational standards,

* including Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022)

* Participate in clinical research projects, or pilot projects associated with service development, including data collection and analysis

* Actively participate in reaching operational business Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)

* Participate in department meetings and other meetings when requested or required

* Mentor provisional psychologists on student placement
