Newly created role for an experienced Office Manager within an environment consultancy business in Hobart

An established Hobart-based professional services organisation is seeking an experienced Office Manager to lead and coordinate its core business support functions. This is a senior, hands-on role supporting the Managing Director and Directors, with responsibility for ensuring smooth, compliant and efficient operations across the business.
Your new role
Reporting to executive leadership, you will take ownership of finance administration, human resources, executive support and health, safety and environment (HSE) functions. You will lead a small multidisciplinary support team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operations.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and supervising business support staff across finance, HR, executive assistance and HSE
* Overseeing office systems, procedures and workflows, driving efficiency and continuous improvement
* Providing hands-on oversight of financial administration, including invoicing, payroll, BAS, reconciliations and compliance
* Supporting budgeting, project cost tracking and financial performance reporting
* Managing HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews and contract administration
* Overseeing WHS/HSE systems, ensuring legislative compliance across operations and projects
* Supporting tender submissions, project coordination and executive workflows as required
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a confident, commercially minded Office Manager with strong leadership capability and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Key requirements:
* Strong demonstrated experience in senior office management, operations or business support positions
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, HR or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
* Strong knowledge of financial systems, payroll, taxation and statutory compliance
* Proven experience leading and coordinating multidisciplinary support teams
* Solid understanding of HR frameworks, employment legislation and modern awards
* Experience overseeing WHS/HSE systems and compliance
* High level of organisational skill with the ability to manage competing priorities
* Experience in a consulting or project-based environment will be highly regarded.
