We are seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to join the Quality site team in our key milk manufacturing facility at Labrador! This is a permanent full‐time position, working Monday to Friday. You must be able to work shift work to suit the hours in the laboratory; the site is currently a 24/6 production environment.
Reporting into the Senior Site Quality Assurance Coordinator you will be working within the laboratory team as a senior figure, where your experience will see you be a key person of responsibility in the team with the ability to train and lead others.
Exciting and Challenging Responsibilities
* Laboratory testing & technical judgement: Perform routine and non‐routine testing, review results, interpret findings, and provide clear advice to support product and process decisions.
* Records, traceability & audit readiness: Maintain accurate lab documentation and sample retention/trace systems to ensure end‐to‐end traceability and readiness for audits at all times.
* GMP inspections & non‐conformance management: Conduct GMP checks, identify non‐conformances, raise NCRs, and drive corrective actions through to verified, effective close‐out.
* Product hold, release & risk‐based disposition: Manage product hold/release workflows within delegation, track status, and support disposition decisions with practical, risk‐based recommendations.
* Investigations, RCA & CAPA delivery: Support investigations using root cause analysis, ensuring actions address root cause, meet timeframes, and are verified for effectiveness.
* Monitoring, trending & continuous improvement: Review EMP and QA/lab data to spot trends and emerging risks; contribute to reporting, targeted actions, and continual improvement across site quality systems.
Required Skills and Experience
* Formal Qualification – Science, Food Tech or Laboratory Degree/Diploma/Certificate highly advantageous.
* Experience in a food manufacturing laboratory or QA environment.
* Strong understanding of GMP and food safety requirements.
* Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP principles and application.
* Experience in internal audits or audit support activities.
* Understanding of relevant food safety/quality standards (e.g., SQF/BRC) and regulatory requirements (e.g., FSANZ) as applicable.
* Experience in investigations and/or Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
* Experience in laboratory testing, data review, and documentation.
* Competency in sample handling and aseptic technique, including correct use of media/equipment and contamination control.
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks to completion.
