The Opportunity
Due to the growth of the College, The Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB) is seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Officer/Handyman to join our Facilities team. The role is a full-time position during school term time, responsible for ensuring the College's buildings, equipment, and grounds are well maintained, safe, and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform day-to-day repairs, maintenance, and minor works (plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.).
* Conduct routine inspections and report issues or hazards.
* Assist with setting up school events and furniture/equipment relocation.
* Support contractors and assist with site access and supervision.
* Assist with traffic management
Selection Criteria
* Be eligible to apply or hold a current working with children check (Blue Card)
* Proven experience as a maintenance officer/handyman, preferably in an educational or similar institutional setting
* Broad knowledge of tools, equipment, and techniques used in repair and maintenance tasks
* Ability to handle a variety of maintenance tasks independently
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment and stand for extended periods
* Flexibility to respond to emergency maintenance requests outside of normal working hours
