About the role: Advise on patent strategy, prosecution, and portfolio management for life sciences clients. Draft and prosecute patent applications in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Conduct freedom-to-operate assessments, validity opinions, and patentability analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide IP guidance on R&D and commercial projects. Represent clients in patent oppositions and contentious matters before IP Australia and other jurisdictions. Stay updated on emerging IP trends and regulatory changes in the life sciences sector. Mentor junior team members and contribute to ongoing professional development initiatives. The ideal candidates: A recognised IP professional, ideally with a PhD from one of the core "Life Sciences” disciplines (e.g., Biology, Pharmacology,). Proven track record in patents, preferably within private practice or a high-calibre in-house IP environment. An inspirational leader and coach — you're as comfortable developing people as you are engaging C-suite clients.
