Opportunities & Support
As an Emergency SRMO you will be rotated between Canberra Hospital and North Canberra Hospital Emergency Departments. By negotiation, we sometimes also arrange SRMO rotations with the Acute Medical Unit and Obstetrics/Gynae teams in Canberra Hospital. Our Registrar rotation options are extensive should you wish to continue training in Canberra ED.
We have protected SRMO teaching, passionate educators, regular simulation team teaching, wellbeing program, and an ED Research Unit.
CANBERRA
The Canberra lifestyle is great for those looking to slow down from Sydney and other major cities, but still wanting everything a Tertiary Referral Hospital offers for your education and career opportunities.
As the nation's capital, we are the 'Bush' capital: home to Australia’s parliament, national museums and galleries, big universities, and lots of kangaroos.
Built around a lake and nestled between mountains and rolling hills, we have easy access to national parks, wildlife, hiking trails, bike paths, mountain biking, and water sports. There are great schools, amazing restaurants, and not too much traffic.
Sydney is 3.5 hours away by bus, ski fields are 2.5 hours south, and some of Australia’s best beaches (like Jervis Bay) are 2.5 hours east.
