The Company:

Torres Pilots Pty Ltd is a privately owned & operated, providing marine pilots services to local & international shipping customers within the regions of the Great Barrier reef & Torres Straits regions.

Torres Pilots prides itself on our commitment to safety & customer service for the, efficient, reliable and on time service of marine pilotage, proven to be the largest supplier of Great Barrier Reef marine pilots & marine pilot transfer services, today our network provides services at Cairns, Thursday Island, Coconut Island and Mackay with a fleet of 6 pilot vessels & three helicopters.

The Role:

Torres Pilots Pty Ltd are the largest supplier of Great Barrier Reef marine pilots and seek a Launch Master for a full time position residing in Cairns.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake launch master duties and maintenance in our workshop. There will be an opportunity to become involved in the following responsibilities:

* Assist the Cairns Managers oversight of safe, reliable, on-time and cost effective use of company resources to conduct pilot transfers.
* Communications with our Brisbane operations team, launch crew and marine pilots.
* Ensure compliance with Torres Pilots' procedures & SMS with regards the fatigue management plan, launch operations, crew training, safety drills and
* Monitor SMS documentation for compliance with the fatigue management plan, launch logs & maintenance, crew safety inductions and drills are appropriated recorded.

You will be required to work a 10 days on / 4 days off roster.

Torres Pilots provide a 13% employer contribution to superannuation and 6 weeks annual leave.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications required:

* Master Class 5 (unrestricted ticket)
* M.E.D 2
* Current Senior First Aid with CPR
* Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP)
* Current Drivers Licence.

Skills and Attributes:

* Proven record of competent vessel handling skills & experience required.
* Proven engineering knowledge & ability are preferred.
* Marine pilotage is 24/7, nature of the business involves flexible work hours day / night of which is an integral part of the position.
* Follow operating and reporting requirements in accordance with AMSA & NSCV standards.
* Continually liaise with the Manager keeping them informed of any defects or issues that affect the performance the safety of the vessel.
* Provide technical support & information when required.
* Organisational ability, attention to detail & ability to multi task.
* Ability to work in a team environment & maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
