Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Trade Assistant/Groundsman with strong exposure to both sports turf and parks & gardens maintenance to support a large independent co-educational school in Truganina. This role requires hands-on experience maintaining sports ovals, athletic fields, and landscaped grounds and garden areas to a high presentation and safety standard. You must have proven knowledge across sports turf management and general grounds upkeep.
What duties can you expect to do?
* Maintain sports turf surfaces and landscaped garden areas to a high presentation standard.
* Carry out mowing, edging, pruning, planting, and mulching across sports fields and garden beds.
* Assist with sports field preparation including line marking, turf repairs, and surface preparation.
* Apply fertilisers, soil treatments, and pest/weed control across turf and landscaped areas.
* Monitor turf health, soil conditions, and irrigation systems, implementing corrective actions as required.
* Support seasonal planting programs, turf renovations, and site improvement projects.
* Maintain and monitor irrigation systems to ensure efficient watering performance.
* Complete pre-starts, site paperwork, and daily reporting requirements.
* Follow all WHS procedures and report hazards or maintenance issues.
* Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet site standards.
What will you need?
* Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens, or Sports Turf (required)
* Proven experience in both sports turf (ovals, athletic fields, parks) and parks & gardens grounds maintenance (required)
* Driver's Licence and own transport or ability to get to site (Manual or Automatic)
* National Police Check (valid and active or willingness to obtain)
* Working with Children Check (valid and active or willingness to obtain)
