Manager Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health

The Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health is the senior operational leader within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Branch and serves as the second-in-charge, supporting the Executive Manager to implement NT PHN's strategic priorities and organisational commitments to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes. This role provides operational leadership and coordination across branch programs and priorities, ensuring NT PHN's Strategic Plan, Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Cultural Respect Framework, commissioning priorities and Closing the Gap commitments are translated into effective, culturally grounded delivery. The Manager plays a critical role in strengthening NT PHN's capability to embed cultural integrity across commissioning, workforce and governance functions. The position works closely with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), communities and key stakeholders to support culturally responsive engagement and improved health outcomes across the Northern Territory. This role operates with delegated authority from the Executive Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and acts in that capacity as required.

ABOUT YOU:

If you are motivated and passionate about improving health outcomes in the Northern Territory. To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Provide operational leadership and coordination of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Branch, including oversight of programs, initiatives and strategic priorities.
* Support the Executive Manager in managing branch operations, priorities and performance and exercise delegated authority in their absence as required.
* Lead and support workforce development, staff capability and branch capacity-building, including Aboriginal workforce development initiatives.
* Support implementation of NT PHN strategic priorities relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, including Innovate RAP commitments and the Cultural Respect Framework.
* Contribute to embedding cultural governance, cultural integrity and culturally safe practices across NT PHN systems and operations.
* Support culturally responsive commissioning processes and ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives inform commissioning and program development.
* Work collaboratively across NT PHN branches to embed cultural considerations into organisational planning and service delivery.
* Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, communities and key stakeholders and represent NT PHN in relevant forums and working groups.
* Prepare reports, briefings and governance documentation and monitor program performance, risks, outcomes and continuous improvement activities.
* Lead and contribute to organisational planning and priority projects, including the development and delivery of project plans to strengthen NT PHN's effectiveness in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

This role is designated as Indigenous Identified. It is a special measure under:

* s 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth)
* s 57(1) and s 35(1)(b) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1992 (NT).
* It is a genuine occupational requirement that the incumbent is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
