The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.Project scope includes:Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each directionCivil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnelsSurface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah FreewayIn line with the above, ACCIONA is now seeking an Excavation Site Engineer to join the Western Harbour Tunnel - Stage 2 Project to contribute to the successful delivery of complex underground works.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for excavation, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to safety, sustainability, and innovation.Specific Tasks IncludeCoordinate and oversee excavation activities to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective deliveryAssist in planning materials, equipment, and systems for efficient excavation operationsMaintain accurate documentation and uphold quality, safety, and environmental standardsCollaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders during planning and executionMonitor budgets and schedules, including cost control and 3-week lookahead planningInterpret excavation-specific design plans and geotechnical drawingsSupport and guide early-career engineers through mentorship and knowledge-sharingRequired Skills and CompetenciesQualifications and ExperienceDegree in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineProven experience in excavation or underground construction projectsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster inclusive team environmentsAttention to detail and a proactive approach to safety and compliance ACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 certification in Australia, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
