About the Role
Join as the technical linchpin for substation bids, where your expertise ensures proposals are engineered to win while meeting stringent standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, IEC 62271).
You'll bridge design, procurement, and construction teams, turning complex specs into competitive, executable solutions for substations, BESS, and transmission projects.
Your mission: Own the technical and civil deliverables of tenders from foundation design to risk mitigation, ensuring every submission is compliant, innovative, and commercially sharp .
Key Responsibilities Decode the Tender: Lead technical reviews of RFQs, contracts, and drawings, ensuring scope, risks, and client requirements are crystal clear.
Engineer the Win: Develop optimised methodologies for substations (civil, structural, and HV), ensuring constructability, safety, and cost‑efficiency.
Crunch the Details: Collaborate with estimators to validate Bo Qs, labour forecasts, and plant requirements.
Your technical input drives pricing accuracy.
Sell the Solution: Craft compelling technical narratives for non‑priced attributes, showcasing innovation (e.g., modular designs, geotechnical solutions).
Project Execution Prep Design Oversight: Review civil engineering designs for transmission foundations, towers, and substation structures, ensuring compliance with standards and geotechnical requirements.
Quality & Safety: Monitor subcontractor performance, ensuring workmanship aligns with specs and HS&E requirements are rigorously implemented.
Program Coordination: Communicate timelines to subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain commitment and avoid delays.
Cost Control: Assist in budget management, ensuring civil works meet performance targets and mitigate risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Lead Teams: Motivate and mentor site personnel, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
Stakeholder Engagement: Address client queries professionally and liaise with design, procurement, and QA teams to align deliverables.
Documentation: Maintain accurate project records (drawings, reports, as‑builts) and assist in scheduling/resource planning.
About You You're a substation and civil engineering pro with a track record in bids or hands‑on project delivery.
Your toolkit includes: Qualifications: Bachelors in Civil Engineering (or related field).
Experience: 3+ years in substation civil works (foundations, structures) or transmission projects.
Bid/tender exposure is a plus.
Technical Skills: Geotechnical interpretation and foundation design.
Proficiency in civil design software (e.g., Auto CAD, Civil 3 D) and familiarity with PLS-CADD or ETAP.
Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, IEC 62271 .
Commercial Acumen: Ability to align designs with budget realities and assess subcontractor quotes.
Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders and mentor teams.
