Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an established Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that has supported the Broome community for over 40 years, providing holistic, culturally safe primary healthcare, aged care, and community programs to Aboriginal people throughout the Kimberley region.
With a strong focus on person‑centred, trauma‑informed, and culturally responsive care, BRAMS delivers services designed around the needs of Aboriginal individuals and families, working collaboratively to improve health outcomes and promote wellbeing across the lifespan.
Your Next Role – Shape the Future of Aboriginal Health
BRAMS is seeking multiple Female and Male Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Workers to join the Broome‑based team.
Reporting to the Mental Health Manager, you will deliver culturally safe, trauma‑informed, and strengths‑based support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men or women, their families, and the broader community.
Responsibilities
* Deliver case management support tailored to community and individual needs.
* Conduct holistic assessments and develop goal‑centred case plans.
* Facilitate gender‑specific SEWB group sessions focused on healing and identity.
* Promote education, help‑seeking behaviour, and mental health awareness.
* Collaborate with family violence practitioners, social workers, and community service staff.
* Maintain accurate records including case notes and referrals.
* Support ongoing quality improvement aligned with BRAMS' Model of Care.
* Work on the ground in Broome with no external travel required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
* Hold or be willing to obtain a Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Counselling, Mental Health, or a related field.
* Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (highly regarded).
* Knowledge of trauma‑informed care, SEWB principles, and community engagement.
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
* Familiarity with service networks and supports in the Kimberley region.
Team and Workload
You will join a tight‑knit team of eight, including social workers and family violence practitioners, supporting healing and resilience. The team thrives on collaboration, shared knowledge, and respect under a supportive, client‑focused Mental Health Manager.
With a manageable caseload of around 20 clients, you'll have the time and support to build real relationships and deliver care that makes a difference for generations to come.
