Details: The Office of the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is seeking an Assistant Director - Senior Professional Officer (SPOC) to manage the Water Regulation Unit.

The EPA sits within Access Canberra and is based out of the Dickson Office Block on Northbourne Avenue.

Access Canberra works across many different regulatory and customer service areas to support the delivery of regulatory reform and drive government priorities. We use a risk and harm approach to secure regulatory compliance through a broad range of enforcement tools aimed at those not doing the right thing to protect our community and the environment.

This position will report to the manager of the EPA.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

* Current ACT or equivalent Driver’s licence
* A tertiary qualification or experience in environmental management, water engineering or other relevant water resource qualifications are highly desirable.
* Irrigation Australia Certified Meter Installer and Validator (CMI) (or equivalent) Non-urban Metering Qualification is essential to role functions. If not held, please state ability to undertake training.
* Relevant qualifications and/or experience in investigations and compliance are highly desirable.

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 18 June 2026 until 12 November 2026 with the possibility of extension up to six months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
