This volunteer role is suitable for fit retired people or those seeking experience in food service or catering. Coordinators are rostered to manage the café for about 3 hours on a Monday or Thursday (once a fortnight or month). Candidates must be fit and capable of dealing with people who may at times be challenging. The coordinator ensures food and beverage supplies are available for each café session and all receipts are provided to the café treasurer for reimbursement. The coordinator works in collaboration with other volunteers to deliver the meal service and is responsible for maintaining security at the church/café (including unlocking/locking). They communicate with the café management committee and other coordinators online via WhatsApp and attend occasional meetings. Coordinators must handle any issues or incidents involving guests, and respond to guest needs such as take‐away food, clothing, store cards, sleeping bags or tents if available, or refer them to other agencies.
