Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services ( We are currently looking for a TBM Senior Project Engineer to join our team for a Heavy Civil Construction Project in Cooma, NSW.


Location: Cooma, NSW (100% On-site)


Estimated Duration: 24 months (In general, when the project ends, we try to relocate the employee to other projects to ensure continuity.)


Summary: Manages and implements project works to achieve time, cost, quality, safety, and contractual targets. Develops and enforces procedures to ensure quality, safety, timely delivery, and budget compliance.


Responsibilities

* Ensure QA implementation on site; support Site Engineer and supervisors in applying QA standards.
* Develop construction documentation (CAP, WPA, CMS) and project programs (Initial + 6WLA).
* Conduct and document safety risk assessments with the site team; ensure HSE approvals are in place.
* Review subcontractor IPC claims and assist with subcontract administration.
* Provide technical review of subcontract packages and support procurement activities.
* Mentor the engineering team to strengthen technical knowledge and capability.
* Review design packages with technical teams/DJV and coordinate design for site use.
* Develop 6–12 month look‑ahead programs for planning and procurement.
* Coordinate site support teams with construction teams to ensure smooth delivery.
* Procure materials for direct work areas in line with design drawings.
* Ensure tunnel procedures are followed, and permits are current.
* Collaborate with supervisors to develop detailed daily and look‑ahead programs, including resources and deliveries.
* Drive continuous improvement in construction methodologies, alternative designs, and material selection.
* Assist QA team with remedial actions and close‑out of NCRs.
* Ensure data for shift reports is reviewed and opportunities identified, for improvement to methods and reoccurring issues/delays.
* Monitor progress of the planned works and regularly review the delay allowance status.
* Coordinate resources to ensure the project works progress in conjunction with other section works.
* Track off‑site procurement items against the program.
* Actively participate in resource planning to generate a target program based on methodology, with completion ahead of contracted deadlines by an appropriate delay allowance.
* Communicate the program to all relevant internal parties.
* Foster a "One Team" culture, ensuring site teams cooperate effectively and integrate with wider project teams.
* Coordinate Graduate and Site Engineers, clarifying expectations and providing regular feedback to support performance.
* Lead the development of Graduate and Site Engineers by identifying and addressing capability needs.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and external stakeholders, in line with the project code of ethics.


Requirements

* A minimum of 6 years of experience as a Project Engineer with the TBM in tunnels/underground/heavy civil construction projects or similar.
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
* Demonstrate a positive "can‑do" attitude.
* Show initiative and creative problem‑solving skills.
* Self‑motivated and results‑driven.
* Ability to manage multiple issues and deliver productive outcomes.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
* Skilled at meeting deadlines and targets, prioritizing tasks under pressure.
* Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
* Able to work quickly, effectively, and positively in demanding environments.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.


Working Hours: 14/7 rotational 12-hour shifts- Day/Night
