The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee payroll and accounting functions within our finance team. As the organisation undergoes significant change and growth, we are seeking someone with positivity and resilience to join our team and contribute to our success. You will take ownership of end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance, while supporting payroll-related queries. In addition, you will manage day-to-day finance operations, drive timely and accurate month-end reporting, and ensure all financial data complies with Australian Accounting Standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Payroll
* Ensure payroll compliance with awards, legislation, and Fair Work requirements.
* Oversee and process end-to-end weekly payroll with accuracy and integrity.
* Financial Accounting
* Support the finance team to complete month-end tasks, ready for P&L release and Board reporting.
* Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
* Ensure GST and statutory compliance.
* Team & Operational Support
* Supervise day-to-day finance operations, coaching and supporting team members as needed.
* Maintain open communication with the CFO, advising on risks, financial matters, or procedural issues.
* Complete ad hoc reports and other tasks as requested.
* Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to optimise outcomes.
Essential Qualifications And Experience
* Minimum 3+ years in a similar role within a medium-sized organisation.
* Detailed knowledge of AASB accounting principles and GST.
* Proven experience processing end-to-end weekly payroll.
* Strong data entry and reconciliation experience.
* Confident across software systems, with solid Excel skills.
* Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
* Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable Criteria
* Tertiary accounting qualification (preferred, not essential).
* Experience with MYOB payroll, BURPs for timesheets, and NetSuite.
