Join the CSIRO Data61 Team as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Machine Learning
Are you holding a PhD in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics? Are you eager to conduct cutting-edge research in machine learning? Join the CSIRO Data61 team for this exciting 3-year postdoctoral role.
CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships offer opportunities for scientists and engineers who have recently completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders in innovation.
Research Focus
This project addresses the biases in machine learning algorithms that impact high-stake, human-centric decisions such as credit scoring and judicial sentencing. While fairness research has contributed to more equitable algorithms, understanding how various bias sources combine to create overall bias remains limited. The project aims to disentangle ML bias into algorithmic and data bias, focusing on intersectional subgroups. The developed techniques will also be applied to analyze biases in threatened species management and human-machine collaboration.
